REVIEW: Chrono Trigger PS1

So I just beat Chrono Trigger for the first time. I really liked it.
For you who don't know of it, Chrono Trigger is a RPG by Square who is most famous for the Final Fantasy series.
It was first released on Super Nintendo in 1995 and later ported to the Playstation in 1999.
I have the PS1 version in a compilation called "Final Fantasy Chronicles" together with Final Fantasy IV, and I know that it's consider to be worse then the SNES version because of the loading times, and yes that is the main fault with this game.
It loads every time you want to go to the status screen, and also when you want to change characters.
But I really like the Anime scenes the have put in.
Looks really nice.

Compared to Final Fantasy I find this to be a little easier. No random attacks on world map and you see most enemies so you can just avoid them if you like. Not suggested thou because you need to level up, but it's good to have the option. At least when you are backtracking and fighting low level enemies just gets annoying.

I also like the humour in it. A lot of jokes, some very silly but I always like a bad joke every now and then.

All in all. A very good game that I recommend. Not as good as Final Fantasy IV but not far from it.
I will try and grab a SNES copy in the future but it is quite expensive, around $100, and it was only released in the US and Japan.
But you can also find it on Nintendo Virtual Console, Nintendo DS about, Playstation Network and even on mobile.

I payed about $17 including shipping to Norway for mine so you can get it with out spending $100.

New PC game

One PC game I have many fond memories of from the 90's was the horror/puzzle game The 11th Hour.
I had totally forgotten about this game up until a week ago, when I for some reason started to remember it.
I asked for it on a videogame Facebook page I'm a member of and got a fast reply. A guy had it and was kind enough to sell it to me.
It's in perfect condition. Almost new. Only a small dent on the box and a little worn on the edges, but CD's look like they never been used.

Will be neet to play this again.

Some new PC games and two for the PS3

I had told myself to take a small break from buying games. At least for a month since I bought so many during my vacation. But no. I can't stop. It's like a drug.
I saw that a guy on a Facebook page was selling one of my favourite games so I just had to get it. He also had a couple of other interesting titles so I thought "What the hell, let's buy those too."

The game that caught my attention was LucasArts' Loom. A hilarious point-and-click adventure. I played through it allot when I was a kid. Back then on an Amiga. This is the PC CD-rom version.

But to my disappointment. The first thing I noticed was that the bottom of the Loom box was torn. Except for that the box looked great. The contents was in superb condition. Instruction book, Book of Patterns, The Adventurer magazine from LucasArts issue No. 4, a music CD. But wait! Where is the game CD?
The game CD was missing!!! So disappointed! I contacted the seller and he promised to send the CD during next week. It seemed to be an honest mistake.

The other games where in great shape. The Dig, also by LucasArts, box was in very good condition and had all contents. Toonstruck was in even better condition. Still in plastic! Not sure if I should open?
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zero for PS3 was in OK condition and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
 was still in plastic.

So what did I pay for this? 600 Norwegian kroner, about €65. Not very cheap but still OK price I think. What do you think?

REVIEW: From Russia With Love PS2

Being a big Bond fan, and From Russia With Love being my favourite Bond movie, I just had to buy this game when I saw it.
Must confess that I didn't know much about it. Was it good? Was it just awful? I had no idea. I just wanted this game in my collection.

The game opens up with a nice Bond intro in the same style as the movies and looks very good, showing of some of the original cast and some new cast for this game including Natasha Beddingfield.
Bond himself is voiced by Mr Bond himself, Sean Connery. The other cast from the movie has just the likeness of the old actors but are voiced by other talent.

You can both play single player and multi player, I only played the single player campaign.
There are 14 missions in single player and every time you start a new mission you can change difficult settings. There is 3 different difficulties, Operative, Agent and 00 Agent. I choose the default Agent setting throughout my play through.

The game is played in 3rd person view and also have have a couple of driving segments.

The graphics are very good for a PS2 game, in my opinion. I think it looks very good in fact. The likeness of the actors is very good.

So is it any good?
Yes. It was maybe a little too easy on the Agent difficulty and wasn't that long but still I enjoyed playing this. They taken elements from the movie and also added new stuff.
The only problem I have with this game is the driving segments. It really isn't that good. It's very easy to loose control of the car. It's like they tried to do what GTA does, but is far from as good driving control as that game.
But in all a good and very enjoyable game.

Yet another Playstation 1

What a strike of luck. I just picked up one more Playstation 1 with 9 games, 3 memorycards and 1 controller very cheap. Only 100 NOK, €11. Bought it from a woman I contacted on Facebook. She lived near by and wanted just to get rid of it.

Two of the games I was specially interested in. Broken Sword II, which I wanted for sometime now, and Final Fantasy VII. I already have FF7 but will try and trade or sell this.

The other games are V-Rally '97 Championship Edition (disc only), NHL '98, FIFA '97, FIFA '98 (missing manual and cover), DBZ: Dead Ball Zone (missing manual and very cracked case), Monsters Inc.: Scare Island (Norwegian cover), Mortal Kombat 4 (missing both front and back cover, manual. The back cover is from Soviet Strike).

So very happy about this deal.

Vacation is over

Doge palace in Venice
Now summer vacation is over. It's been a good summer. Been on a European road trip through Germany, Austria and northern Italy.
Visit some game related places such as Venice, looked at some buildings I have climbed as Ezio in Assassin's Creed series, and Neuschwanstein castle in Germany, that is an important part of one of my favourite computer games, Gabriel Knight II: The Beast Within.
